[written sideways]
care of Mr Fontinell

May 2nd 1835
Hugh said in his letter that he had received your letter informing him of our sales made [spelled maid] to Fontinell Fitzpatrick & Co which he appears much pleased. Mr Baker and Lady leave in a short time for London and Miss Harriet accompanies them they will be about one year and Mr Gill will break up house keeping.

Hugh states that our drafts has [sic] all been received and duly honored. John Kerr is expected home hourly if our fur should not be sold in New York in a reasonable time I think I will order it back to Philada in case Hugh doesn't come West. I am doubtful your return will not be as soon as you anticipated owing to Fontinells detention here the goods spoken of I will buy and have ready. I spoke to Pratte about that house he says Edgar has it as long as he may choose to keep it at 800 pr_____ and that he can give no answer that Edgar has not told him what he intends doing and I have been trying to find out what Edgar intends doing but I have not been able though from what I can learn I think he intends keeping it that is if he is able to continue business for him self or if any person will go in with him.

He is persuing the Steps of most of the Irish and doesn't fall much short of filling his part in that respect, you understand me.

I have visited his room. But ever since you left and that was on yesterday there is company there frequently.

My visits is [sic] but few since you left I have kept my self confined to my Virgin sheets tolerable _____ since you left as the weather is growing warm and I think its beneficial [spelled benefitial] to health to do [spelled doe] so my health has been fine. Ever since you left there are many inquiries for you etc.

[Pg. Break - top of front cover] I will likely visit Independence and Kentucky also this summer if I can do so without neglecting affairs here.

Robt please to get back as soon as possible as you know my promise to not marry until your return and as soon as I get at leisure I will burn out courting for you and myself and you know if I ever concede to get married I will not be at rest until is all over. God Bless You WL Sublette.

[Section Break - bottom front cover] I see Mgr Dougherty a few days since he was then asking about selling out for the pounies [?] etc.

The French question is not yet settled and its thought doubtful if it will be or not as there appears like there will be a change in their [spelled there] administration and affairs in many respects.
